E DIDN'T care when the international media got hysterical over Victoria Beckham's new size -zero. But now that our own Ka-reena Kapoor is a size zero, we can't stop talking about it.
While we debate the pros and cons of Kareena's frame, she has inspired a lot of us to get wafer thin. Curvaceous Katrina Kapoor and even Priyanka Chopra are rumoured to be working out to get thin. And Amrita Arora, a close friend of Kareena, has got downright skinny. She said in an interview, "Bebo got me into yoga and today Priya from Bharat Thakur's school of yoga teaches me for an hour everyday"
Healthy or not, the fact is that the vital statistics of women in India, once a country that celebrated curves, are dwindling. Women do not want to be rounded and fleshy anymore. They prefer being lean and taut. Says Shan Haider, personal trainer with Talwalkars, a chain of fitness centres across India, "Women do not want to be voluptuous. Till a year back, the frame Bipasha had in Jism was acceptable, but not anymore."
