Modi gets Apco to hardsell Vibrant Gujarat-2011

W ashington-based Apco Worldwide has bagged the project for globally hard-selling Vibrant Gujarat-2011, a Davos in Action'.
Apco was earlier given the task of image make-over for chief Minister Narendra Modi and the state of Gujarat in the western world. Four firms, in­cluding Hanmer & Partner, Ogilvy & Mather and Concept PR, were in the race for the final round_pf bidding for Vi­brant GujarSt that was held to­day at Gandhinagar.
Besides roadshows in var­ious countries, the government has sought presence of 50 coun-
tries at the summit and partic­ipation of 100 hundred differ­ent institutes of repute from across the globe, as part of the bidding process. Apco quot­ed Rs 14.5 lakh per month for the PR drive that will go on for
PR firm who had participat­ed in the bidding.
Hamner & Partner scored second with 58 points while Ap­co bagged the project with 61 points, sources close to the de­velopment told Business Stan­dard. Hamner & Partner quot­ed Rs 30 lakh per month.
In January 2009, the fourth edition of the summit brought in huge investment promises of $243 billion, despite eco­nomic slump.;.
For Vibrant Gujarat-2011, about 10 firms were in fray in­cluding Weber Shandwick along with Grey Worldwide, Vaishnavi and Twenty-Twenty. However, all these firms dropped out after the first round, sources said.
